How the thresholds work
GST registration is mandatory once turnover crosses ₹40 lakh for goods or ₹20 lakh for services (₹20 lakh / ₹10 lakh in special-category states). It is also compulsory from day one — regardless of turnover — if you sell on e-commerce marketplaces, make inter-state supplies of goods, or are otherwise required to register.
