Amazon Easy Ship vs FBA: what each needs for GST

Easy Ship and FBA have very different GST footprints. Here's how each affects how many registrations you need.

Two popular Amazon models have very different GST implications. Choosing well saves you unnecessary registrations.

Amazon Easy Ship

You store inventory at your own location; Amazon picks up and delivers. Because the stock stays with you, you usually need only the GSTIN for your own state. A single VPOB can cover this if you don't have a commercial address.

Amazon FBA

Amazon stores your stock in its fulfilment centres across multiple states. Every state holding your stock needs its own GSTIN plus the centre added as an APOB. See the full FBA GST guide.

Rule of thumb: Easy Ship = fewer GSTINs; FBA = one per fulfilment state.

Frequently asked questions

Does Amazon Easy Ship need multiple GST registrations?

Usually no. With Easy Ship you store stock yourself and Amazon picks up to deliver, so you typically need only the GSTIN for your own location.

Does FBA need GST in every state?

Yes — FBA stores your stock in Amazon centres across states, and each state where your stock sits needs its own GSTIN and APOB.
