GST amendments: core vs non-core fields
Not every change to your GST registration needs approval. Here's what's a core amendment, what's non-core, and how to do each.
GST lets you amend your registration details, but the process depends on what you're changing. Some fields need officer approval (core); others update automatically (non-core).
Core amendments (need approval)
- Principal or additional place of business.
- Adding/removing promoters or partners.
- Legal name (non-PAN) changes.
Non-core amendments (auto)
- Contact details like phone and email.
- Bank account details.
- Minor descriptive fields.
| Change | Type |
|---|---|
| Add a warehouse (APOB) | Core |
| Change email/phone | Non-core |
| Add a partner | Core |
| Update bank details | Non-core |
How to amend
Log in, choose core or non-core amendment, edit the fields, upload any proof, and submit. Core changes then await approval.
